Movember Recap

By Jessica Kostick

Community Engagement Manager, Healthy Klamath

If you haven't heard of Movember, it is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's suicide.

This Movember (November) Healthy Klamath paired up with Klamath Basin Behavioral Health to bring this awareness to Klamath Falls.

Healthy Klamath did this by bringing together First Responders in our community for a Fitness Challenge. Klamath Falls Police Department, Kinglsey Field and Klamath County Fire District 1 competed against each other in four different competitions. Each of the four competitions were the physical fitness test each department staff member has to pass in order to perform their job. KFPD hosted the ORPAT (Oregon Physical Abilities Test), Kingsley Field hosted the Air Force PT test, Fire District 1 hosted the CPAT (Candidate Physical Abilities Test), and finally ODF hosted the pack test.

Everyone involved had a great time competing against each other and it was truly amazing to see everyone working together to help their teammates succeed.

If you would like your organization to participate next year or are passionate about spreading the word about the importance of Men's Health just visit our healthyklamath.com website and click on “Contact Us.”
