Let’s Complete the Geo Trail Extension

The final push to complete the Klamath Falls Geo Trail is upon us. We are very close to realizing the project and with your support, we will be able to complete the Geo Trail Extension by the summer of 2025!

The project was a once seemingly ambitious idea by Katherine Pope and the late Dr. Stephanie Van Dyke, the two people responsible for pioneering the project. Through community support, the Wellness Center, Healthy Klamath and KTA (Klamath Trails Alliance), the current Geo Trail became a reality and was completed in 2016.

Since then, the trail has been consistently used by community members, Sky Lakes employees and OIT students, providing amazingly scenic views and opportunities for relaxation and physical activity all year round. The nearly 2-mile long recreational trail is located in the foothills Hogback Mtn and links Crystal Terrace, Sky Lakes Medical Center and Oregon Institute of Technology.

The Geo Trail extension will connect the last leg of the trail, providing easy access from neighboring communities in the south from Harmony Lane and direct access for residents of Crystal Terrace from their doorstep.

Easy access to trails and open spaces will encourage thousands of nearby residents, employees and students to recreate.

Improved Connectivity - the trail extension will improve the long-term biking/walking and commute option for Sky Lakes, Oregon Tech employees/students and surrounding communities.

Legalize Trail Access – KTA will maintain legal access through trail agreements with landowners.

Improved User Experience – instead of utilizing a sometimes dusty or muddy dirt path trail users will now travel on an all-weather compacted gravel path.

Improved Public Health – trails and outdoor recreation are critical elements to improving our mental and physical well-being.
