Walking
Jessica Kostick demonstrates how to use walking as an exercise. We all know how to walk, it's great for the joints as it is a weight bearing exercise, it's good cardiovascular exercise for the heart as well, but did you know that walking can also be a strength training exercise? You can get muscular gains by changing up the way you walk. Try increasing your distance, your time or even your tempo (speed). If that's not enough for you, you can try walking backwards, just be sure there are no obstacles in the way. You can also try side stepping (be sure to get both directions). Side stepping is a great way to work on your balance. Have fun and be safe, if you're new to walking backwards and sidestepping you can greatly increase your chances of a fall, think about hanging onto something stable as you try this out.
