Senior Center Assistive Equipment Loan Closet Overhaul:
8:00-3:00pm, Klamath Basin Senior Center
Project Lead: Anne Davenport | annedgr@hotmail.com
We are in the process of planning an overhaul to our Assistive Equipment Loan Closet to better serve the needs of our community in collaboration with Norco, Inc. At present, we have a robust inventory of durable medical equipment including wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches, bathroom, equipment, and more and are able to provide equipment at no cost to community members for the time needed. Unfortunately, the current storage unit is not as organized as it could be and we often get broken equipment donated that we end up needing to throw out, despite the need. We are collecting volunteers and donations for a one-day event and ongoing activities. The one-day event may align well with the Give Back Day. We are also seeking a sponsor or funding for the building materials and storage components. Our plan for the one day event is to:
Remove all equipment from the current storage room.
Categorize, clean, review for any broken components, tag appropriately.
Clean the storage room. Remove an existing door.
Build shelves with plywood and lumber.
Hang additional hardware and install additional storage components per specifications.
Place labels.
Return equipment into appropriate areas within the storage room. Ideally, we would have two teams going. One within the storage room building shelves and installing storage components. One outside categorizing, cleaning, tagging equipment. This would likely be an all-day event (~8am - 3pm, at least). We could provide coffee, snacks, and if we are able to secure enough funding for the day, we could also provide lunch.
Project Needs: Donations/funding for Closet Organization and fixing broken equipment
